Tailored Loose Covers Lancashire

Our loose covers can be tailored to a formal finish in upholstery fabrics or a more relaxed look in machine washable fabric. With many years of experience in making loose covers, we know how to make them look good as well as make them last. We over lock all edges, fit heavy duty zips and can use pre-shrunk piping to help achieve this.

About Morecambe Re-Upholstery

Morecambe Re-Upholstery is an independent, family run company that has been handed down through the generations. We are based in the original premises on Queen Street in Morecambe. The company was started over 60 years ago by James Ron Darwen. (Pictured 5th from the left on the back row) Mr Darwen Senior served an apprenticeship as a cabinet maker with the world famous Waring and Gillows furniture makers based in Lancaster.

Every antique furniture enthusiast has heard of the name Gillows, due to the very high standard of craftsmanship and unique design of the pieces of furniture they constructed. Gillows not only used timbers such as solid mahogany, but unusual veneers and painted designs such as japanning. They often made upholstered chairs, so had their own upholsterers and cabinetmakers. Now run by the next generation, we offer professional upholstery services to domestic and commercial customers.
